The Flex-20 is simply a solar panel with USB output on the back, meaning that whatever is plugged into it, gets charged directly from the sun. The solar panels are rated for 20-Watts of solar charging power, which is easily enough to charge your phone and USB devices on a sunny day.

Because the Flex-20 does not have an internal battery, it cannot store any power by itself. However, just keep the Flex-20 plugged into a power bank to store the solar power for when you need it for later. And as most power banks have a very low charging current, the Flex-20 can store power into them even on cloudy and overcast days.

The USB outputs support the charging of almost any 5V device, such as your Smartphone, Tablet, Action Camera, MP3 Player and Power Bank. An intelligent smart-chip optimises power output to match the needs of your device and with an auto-restart function, the Flex-20 knows when to resume charging after a disruption, such as a cloud.

It even works through a window when plugged into a power bank! This method is slower, yet ideal if you want it protected from surprise showers of rain.

How long does the Flex-20 take to charge a smartphone?

It all depends on the type of phone and the weather conditions. On a sunny day the Flex-20 will put out over 2-Amps, which will charge a standard smartphone in a similar time it takes to charge it from a power supply.

Can the Flex-20 charge my device on a cloudy day?

Because some smartphones have a very high minimum charging current, the Flex-20 might need quite a sunny day to charge them directly. But with devices such as portable power banks that have a very low minimum charging current, the Flex-20 can charge them up even on an overcast day.
